First-party data collection for more data and better privacy

Use STRM for first-party data collection to own your data, improve privacy and reduce legal risk.

what you get

First-party data collection with STRM Privacy

Own your data

You use data to drive business outcomes. But often the data you collect is not yours - that "free" tool phones it home, too. First-party data is yours, and so yours to use, transform and aggregate to drive business outcomes.

Reduce privacy and legal concerns

With Analytics tools you trade ease of data collection for user privacy. Privacy authorities are starting to notice, and using them is under increased scrutiny. As STRM data is yours and properly transformed for privacy, you don't have to trade user privacy for data and decrease legal and compliance risks.

Freely define data needs

A standard tool means standard data collection. And as your business grows, you probably need more from your data than a standard tool can provide. With STRM you freely define your data needs in the schema you need.

Privacy-by-design = happy lawyers

As Analytics tools freely share data into (ad) networks, they are designed to sacrifice privacy. STRM is build from privacy by design principles. Through our data contracts and the transformations we apply, data usage matches your privacy policies.

How it works

Freely define data needs

Define the data you need in data schemas, without constraints, to match your data needs and business goals.

Send data front to back

Send your data in real-time at event level for both back-end and front-end user events through our drivers.

Privacy streams

Based on the data and obtained consent, we transform data into Privacy Streams.

Use more data

A Privacy Stream is a safe-to-use data stream, so you can use more (anonymized) data to aggregate or analyse and build a better business.

See for yourself. it's free.

Add privacy and build more

First-party data enables many product and marketing dreams: better experimentation, better analytics capabilities, higher velocity or even real-time machine learning and personalization.

A/B testing

Experiment on more and better data. Freely define data needs, measure both front- and back-ends.

Product Analytics

Deeply measure user behavior with event-level data, privacy included.

First party marketing

Move away from nosey analytics tools and enable more and deeper data.

Data Science

Build and experiment with new data science applications, or safely feed existing applications.

Real-time machine learning

Run a privacy-safe event pipeline in real-time and enable predictions as user actions happen.

Enable personalization on anonymous data and offer more users a personalized experience.

in the box

Our tools to build confidently with data

Add privacy right where you collect your data and make sure you don't lose time and tears on legal coordination and building for a conditional.

Attach legal grounds

With STRM, every data point contains the original consent. So you always know what you can do with data.

Data contracts

Data contracts define the shape of data and their privacy implications - saving you countless loops to legal desks.

Privacy levels

Set privacy levels per field in your data and balance your innovation thirst with data privacy concerns.

Privacy streams

Based on the data contract and legal ground, data is transformed and split into streams you can "just build" against.

Schema library

Register your own data contracts and find inspiration from other use cases in our schema registry and library.

Event or batch

Integrate real-time data pipelines or process routines or existing data.

Sinks and connectors

Bring your data via a range of drivers and sinks, and take back transformed data in buckets or streaming interfaces.

Data validations

Write simple but powerful validations to make sure unexpected data doesn't pollute your hard-won datasets.

Frequently asked questions

What is first-party data?
First-party data is data about customers or users that is collected by a company itself. It's different from third-party data like a script from Google or Facebook. You can use first party data (like web visits, app interactions, order histories, media consumption etc) to drive business outcomes through digital marketing, personalization and product development.
What is privacy by design?
Privacy by Design is the princple of designing systems that contain user data, like data collection and using that data, from privacy forward. It means privacy is embedded in the sytem and not just an afterthought in areas like data collection, data access and data usage.
Why can't I use Google Analytics?
Google Analytics a great tool to gain insight into user behavior. But as it is a third-party and the data is shared with the advertising network of Google, you cannot guarantee user privacy. That's why Data Protection Authorities say it is illegal to use, mainly because you need to share user IP address with third parties (that's how the internet works).
How can I implement first-party data with STRM?
STRM is a privacy-focused data platform. To get started with first-party data via STRM, we recommend your team consists of developers and data engineers to implement our drivers, define your data schemas and capture and use first-party data to drive business outcomes. We're not installed as an external script in your site header, moving to first-party data requires a higher level of technical ability.
How do you cover GDPR?
GDPR has many different facets. It starts with a clear policy and asking for consent and purpose. STRM is privacy-focused data platform, and we help to bring privacy policies to your data. This means we make sure data contains what you think it does, without surprise. You will need to annotate the data purpose in each event you process with STRM, and we transform and provide data that matches the consent and contract (e.g. anonymized). This way you can just use data, and Data Subject Access Requests and Right To Be Forgotten are much easier.
What is a real-time data pipeline?
Usually data is a "dataset": many rows of different datapoints, that start and end at a point in time, or all the data you know about a customer. Like all the visits to an app over a day. Real-time data is data that is continously being generated, like all the visits to your app right now. This has important benefits because, as data comes in as it happens, you can respond to the data signals immediately.
